Micro Enterprise to support Ni Vanuatu women – after Cyclone Pam

A micro enterprise developed by Lav Kokonas during the past 5 months, has taken a different direction since cyclone Pam hit Vanuatu on 13th March 2015.

The intention was to show ni Vanuatu women currently working in New Zealand,  jewellery making skills that could be used in Vanuatu to create items to sell at various markets in Vanuatu.  Lav Kokonas has supported these women in providing the hand-up to get this project off the ground, but as I say,  it has been necessary to alter the course of the project.  All the women are from remote islands in Vanuatu and have had their homes and villages greatly affected  by Cyclone Pam.

Here are some examples of what has been created so far.

The “balls” are amazing – they appear to “light up” from the inside.   They look spectacular when the light catches them.   All the other earrings have a Pacific theme to the design.

ALL funds are returned to the creators.   If you would like a more detailed picture of the earrings that you wish to buy, email Belinda on [email protected] with the number of the pair of earrings you wish to purchase and I will forward to you.    $10 for the “balls” and $8 for all the other designs.

There will be more photos loaded in the next few weeks.

Thanks for making a difference to these ni Vanuatu women who will need to rebuild their lives when they return to Vanuatu.
